Sculptural Oven
As much as we love simple modern curves, we couldn’t resist the sculptural opportunity on this oven. Erin’s affinity for folk art and sculptural gardens led us to making our own version of the grief stricken sculptures found in Bomarzo, Italy. Originally expressing the pain of a lost love, our rendition channels the general grief, frustration, and helplessness that comes with watching the daily horrors on a little pocket screen. Giving those feelings a physical shape can move them through the body. We are big believers in the power of art and clay as a healthy way to process, a meditation. In this case, we created a functional sculpture that will bring people together around food and conversation, the most basic form of community building. May we work toward collective liberation through even our smallest acts.
